SYNOPSIS
Alessandro, an Italian immigrant working hard to create a better life for his family, loses everything when he’s laid off, and his wife leaves him. Struggling with depression and desperate to win back his family, Alessandro accepts a mysterious job offer: €1000 a week for 8 hours of cleaning.
But the job isn’t what it seems, it asks him to sell one of his eyes to a wealthy man who has lost his sight.
Torn between his love for his family and his morality, Alessandro must decide how much he’s willing to sacrifice to reclaim what he’s lost.
THE CHARACTER
In-depth STORY
Alessandro Trovati
Alessandro Trovati is a man driven by ambition, pride, and an unwavering commitment to providing the best life for his family. Born and raised in a small town in Italy, Alessandro grew up in a family that valued hard work and resilience, but he always dreamed of more. The cobbled streets of his childhood home, though beautiful, felt like a cage, holding him back from the success he knew he could achieve.
At 25, Alessandro made the bold decision to leave everything behind and move to London, chasing the promise of opportunity and prosperity. Armed with little more than his determination, he worked tirelessly, carving out a space for himself in a foreign land. His charm, quick wit, and sharp business sense helped him climb the ladder, but the journey was never easy. Each step forward was a battle to prove himself in a country where he constantly felt like an outsider.
For Alessandro, success in the UK wasn’t just about personal achievement; it was about validating his decision to leave his home and proving to his family back in Italy (and to himself) that the sacrifice was worth it.
A Man Defined by Pride
Alessandro’s identity is deeply tied to his role as a provider.
His wife, Charlotte, an elegant and pragmatic woman he met in London, and their young child represent everything he’s worked for. To him, their comfort and happiness are proof of his worth, and he spares no expense in giving them a life of luxury, even when it stretches him financially.
But this relentless pursuit of success comes at a cost. Alessandro’s refusal to acknowledge his limits leads him into increasingly risky ventures, and his mounting debts soon spiral out of control. The dream he fought so hard to build begins to crumble, leaving him with nothing but shame and regret. Charlotte, weary of his empty promises and desperate to protect their child, makes the heartbreaking decision to leave, taking their child with her.
Emotional Journey
Devastated and alone, Alessandro finds himself in the shadows of the life he once envisioned. His rented flat, far from the grand home he once had, becomes a symbol of his failure. He spends his nights staring at old photographs of his family, haunted by the echoes of their laughter and the crushing silence that remains.
The job offer to clean a villa, discovered in the pages of a newspaper, feels like a lifeline. Though far from his former ambitions, it represents a chance to rebuild;
until the job takes a sinister turn. The villa’s wealthy owners propose a harrowing bargain: in exchange for a fortune that could wipe away his debts and win back his family, Alessandro must sell one of his eyes.
Conflict and Transformation
This proposition forces Alessandro to confront the very core of his identity. As an Italian immigrant, he has always been defined by his resilience, his pride, and his relentless drive to prove his worth in a foreign land. But now, he must decide how much of himself he’s willing to sacrifice (not just physically, but morally) for the promise of redemption.
Struggling with this impossible choice, Alessandro embarks on a journey of self-discovery. As he wrestles with the offer, he begins to question the values that have driven him all his life. Was his pursuit of wealth and status truly for his family, or was it an attempt to mask his own insecurities? What does it mean to succeed, and how much is too much to sacrifice for those he loves?
THE OTHER CHARACTERS
Charlotte Trovati
Charlotte is the epitome of elegance and entitlement. A woman of exceptional education and poise, she exudes an air of superiority, accustomed to being the center of attention and treated as if the world revolves around her. Confident, strikingly beautiful, and tall, she commands every room she enters. Her charm is undeniable when she’s getting what she desires — warm, engaging, almost disarmingly sweet. But when things don’t go her way, her demeanor shifts in an instant: the veneer of grace crumbles, revealing a sharp edge of bitterness and a quick temper. Spoiled and self-centered, Charlotte’s affection is a reward for those who indulge her whims, and a weapon for those who don’t.
Olivia Johnson
In her 50s, Olivia is a determined, strong-willed woman with a commanding presence. Though she carries extra weight, it only enhances the authority with which she moves through the world, her every action deliberate and calculated. Her poise, sharp mind, and seductive charm make her a force to be reckoned with, and her love for her husband, Mr. Johnson, runs deep — fierce and unwavering. She refuses to accept the reality of his partial blindness, seeing it as something to be fixed, not endured. Willing to do anything to restore his sight, she is driven by an obsessive need to return to the perfect life she believes they deserve. With a controlled British accent and a demeanor that reflects years of careful refinement, Olivia is a woman who always remains in control, even if that control comes at a high price.
Philip Johnson
Philip is the epitome of success — tall, distinguished, and effortlessly commanding. As the proud owner of a flourishing construction empire, his wealth and accomplishments are a testament to his drive and ambition. With a deep, firm voice that commands attention and respect, he leads with confidence, and his presence alone is enough to fill any room.
Yet beneath the surface of power and prosperity, there is an unspoken vulnerability. Years ago, a tragic accident left him blind in one eye, a loss that stripped him of a piece of his self-assurance. Though his wealth and stature remain untouchable, the injury — both physical and psychological — serves as a constant reminder that no amount of money can restore what was lost. Despite his commanding exterior, a quiet insecurity lingers, a shadow that even his success cannot banish.
David Sanchez
David is a steadfast South American man in his 40s, Alessandro’s loyal friend and confidant. Their bond runs deep, forged through shared experiences as immigrants. David understands the loneliness, displacement, and sense of being an outsider that Alessandro struggles with because he’s lived it himself.
With a quiet strength and empathetic nature, David is always there to lift Alessandro in his darkest moments, offering comfort, wisdom, and an unwavering sense of belonging. He embodies resilience, loyalty, and the courage to turn shared pain into connection and hope.
Sandra Rodriguez
Sandra is the Johnson family’s lively and outspoken maid, a young Spanish woman whose vibrant personality makes her both unforgettable and occasionally troublesome. Her warmth and quick wit draw others in, but her love of gossip and inability to keep secrets often lead to unintended chaos.
Sandra’s expressive, extroverted nature stands out in the reserved British household, sometimes clashing with the culture around her. Though her loudness and occasional blunders can frustrate those she works for, her genuine care and infectious energy make her an irreplaceable part of the family’s dynamic.
THE MESSAGE
In today’s world, where self-worth is often measured by financial success and material possessions, Alessandro’s journey is a timely reflection of the pressures millions face. His story explores the value of love, sacrifice, and identity in a world that often reduces people to commodities. His struggle to reclaim what truly matters (the love of his family) offers a powerful message about the human condition, reminding us all that our worth cannot be measured in money or possessions.
This is a story of a love so fierce, so raw, and so unconditional, it defies logic and reason. It is the tale of a man willing to give up everything, his very self, to save the ones he holds dear. A love that transcends material value and is driven by an eternal, unbreakable bond.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This film will resonate with a wide audience, especially those who have faced personal crises, financial hardship, or a loss of identity. Its universal themes of love, sacrifice, and self-worth make it relevant to viewers across cultures. We aim to screen the film at prominent international festivals, and secure distribution with streaming platforms to reach a global audience.
